FYP texturing progress

12/7/16
Ver. 1 of textures (rejected)

Revamping textures such that it look s more appealing and more stylistic. I found that I had repeated too many textures in all spirits thus I am looking to make them more unique.

Ver. 2 of textures (final)
19/7/16

I decided to use some organic textures that fits with the spirits, changing the eyebrows colors to a darker color so that the expression would be able to be seen more easily. I also changed the markings on the masks to be of a lighter color so that it would not distract the audience from the more important expressions of the spirits. Specular and slight skin bump was also applied so that the spirits would look more appealing and real.

Moving on to animal textures!

Hippo Texture (final)

I applied a similar color scheme for the hippo as with a real life hippo; dark purple and the bottom going to a much lighter biegish color. I also applied bump of a hippo's skin as well as the specular for the hippo. I also made sure that the eyes were of a complementary color with the purple skin.

Pig Texture (final)

For the pig, I once again followed closely the color scheme of a reali life pig (but with careful consideration of the original design for the pig). I applied fur texture to the shader as well as specular for the fur on the pig. The eyebrows were a darker color for clarity. The eyes, once again, were colored complementing the pink color of the pig. I also used Mudbox to get rid of any seams.

Rabbit fur texture (rejected)

On this rabbit, I was trying out the fur effects on the model in maya. I tried as hard as I could but it did not end up too well. In the end, I abandoned the fur fx.

Bear Texture (final)
Cat Texture (final)

Similar to the pig, for the bear, I applied fur texture after putting in the color scheme for the bear, as well as the fur specular. Afterwards, I also applied bump and specular for the nose:

I then used Mudbox to get rid of any visible seams.

Similar to the rest of the animals with fur, I applied similar fur texture to the shader of the cat. I also added spotted fur texture for the cat so that it looks more like a cat. Similarly, the eyebrows were darker for clarity on expression. Again, using Mudbox to get rid of any visible seams on the texture. I then applied the fur specular to the cat. I also applied bump and specular texture for the cat's nose, which is rough and bumpy.

Owl Texture (final)

For the owl, which was slightly different from the other animals who had either skin or fur, I applied specific feather textures to the owl in the correct directions while refering to a real living owl. Again, using mudbox to remove the visible seams.

For the underside of the wings, I made use of the specific feathers that can onyl be found on the wings' underside of birds and applied the texture.

Moving on to the beak and feet, I used some scratches texture as beaks and their feet are rough. I applied it to the shader and then created specular as well as bunmp for both of them.

9/8/16
Rabbit Texture (final)

Redoing the rabbit texture, I used the same method as with the other fur covered animals.

Environment Textures

Conveyor Belt Texture (final)

Moving on to the environment textures now, I applied a rough rubbery texture to one piece of the rubber on the conveyor belt, creating the specular for it as well as bump. Then, I applied the same material to all of the pieces.

For the metal base, I used metal textures mixed with a little of rusted textures because the project's factory is supposed to have been running for some time. To show that, the metal needs to be rusted. I used the same method for the wheels under the rubber of the conveyor belt.
